A “Rising Sun” branding kit designed as a modular illustration system inspired by retro California aesthetics. The set features square-format illustrations of geometric sunsets, ocean horizons, and abstract summer landscapes, created in a clean, minimal retro style with a warm, nostalgic visual tone.
The main challenge was achieving visual variety within a strict geometric system while keeping the illustrations minimal and cohesive. It required simplifying natural sunset and coastal scenes into clear, readable forms without losing atmosphere, and ensuring the modular elements could be freely combined without visual conflict across different layouts.
To develop a flexible, mix-and-match illustration system that captures the warmth and optimism of a California summer. The goal was to translate sunsets, horizons, and coastal moods into simplified geometric compositions, creating a cohesive toolkit suitable for branding, posters, and packaging applications.
