(Description)
A branding and illustration system for a rare books and literature library, designed to support cultural events such as poetry readings and literary gatherings. The visual identity draws from dark academia and Art Nouveau influences, combining decorative elegance with a sense of scholarly depth. Core illustrations feature vertical and circular cabinet compositions filled with books, skulls, moths, and subtle alchemical references, applied across posters and booklet covers.
The main challenge was to translate a rich, symbolic visual world into something refined and controlled, avoiding an overly decorative or “tacky” aesthetic. It required balancing detailed illustrative storytelling with clarity and hierarchy, ensuring the compositions remained readable and functional for event communication while still feeling atmospheric and expressive. Another challenge was maintaining consistency across both illustrative systems and logo applications.
To create a sophisticated visual identity for a literary space that celebrates knowledge, mystery, and imagination. The goal was to develop a cohesive system inspired by dark academia and Art Nouveau, combining intricate illustration with a refined typographic and symbolic identity, including a logo badge and monogram that reflect the library’s heritage and cultural depth.
A refined visual system built around gold vector line art and a deep palette of dark purple, blue, and green. The central illustrations depict ornate cabinet structures filled with books and symbolic elements, used across posters, promotional notebook-style booklet covers and bookmarks. The identity is completed with a minimal line-art logo badge set and monogram, creating a cohesive, elegant, and atmospheric brand for the library’s literary events.
